STARS will be present at SEE Mobility 2017

STARS is pleased to announce our participation at SEE Mobility 2017 from April 26^th to the 27^th in Belgrade. STARS will be present together with DITECFER at the biannual international fair of transport technologies and services in the Western Balkans. According to Eurostat – Railway Safety Statistics Report 2014-2015, the most common type of accident with victims involves accidents caused by rolling stock in motion or those happening at level-crossings. The STARS Sirio-LX radar-based system solution has been specifically designed and developed to automatically detect and warn of objects on the track at level-crossings. STARS participates at Middle East Rail 2017

STARS – Railway Systems will participate at Middle East Rail in the UAE from the 7^th to the 8^th of March. At the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, where the most important railway infrastructure conference in the Gulf region takes place, we will showcase our automatic radar-based safety solutions, Sirio-LX and Sirio-OD. Company

The STARS consortium was founded to develop and manufacture radar based safety systems for railways. It is composed of Ingegneria Dei Sistemi, a leading international company in the field of radar based systems, and Intecs, which has 20 years’ experience of delivering railway safety products.

In addition to installing systems on the line between Rome and Naples, as well as in the Lombardy region, for RFI (the Italian railway network) the STARS consortium is also active with other rail operators around the world.

The STARS solutions meet the very stringent safety requirements dictated by the CENELEC regulations for the sector, attaining the highest level of safety integrity, SIL4.

PRODUCTS

Sirio-LX

Sirio-LX is an automatic system to prevent trains from colliding with obstacles on the track at level crossings. It uses short range high resolution radar to detect objects that enter the area before or while the gates are closing and provides warning to approaching trains via the existing signaling system.

Sirio-OD

Sirio-OD is a radar-based system for the automatic detection of objects which have fallen on to railway tracks in high-risk zones such as overpasses, tunnel entrances and exits and zones prone to landslides. It has a fast reaction time, vital for high speed lines, and provides alerts to the signaling system to prevent rail accidents.

Reduces the risk of rail accidents

Modular System

It is possible to install multiple nodes on the track, each node being independent and connected to the signaling system.

Remote Control

The STARS systems interface directly with railway signaling and also communicate with monitoring data from remote systems, allowing any location to receive real-time data and video of the monitored area.

Sirio-LX has been developed specifically for level crossings

Sirio-OD is ideal for the high risk areas near overpasses and tunnels, especially on high speed lines.

STARS and RFI sign a contract to provide 100 level-crossing monitoring systems

The STARS – Railway Systems consortium and RFI - Rete Ferroviaria Italiana have signed a contract for the supply of level-crossing monitoring systems for the Italian railway network. The agreement, signed in Rome in April 2016, consists of the supply, installation and activation of 100 Sirio-LX systems.
In the first phase, Sirio-LX will be installed and activated on four level-crossings in two Italian regions, Lombardy and Tuscany. The Sirio-LX system is compliant with the highest safety integrity level standards, SIL4 CENELEC 50129.

STARS - Railway Systems Amongst the winners of DITECFER Leaders in Railway Innovation 2016

Pistoia, July 1^st 2016 - DITECFER, the Tuscan organization for high speed rail and safety technologies has named Stars - Railway Systems as one of the three winners of “DITECFER Leaders in Railway Innovation 2016”

The Siro-LX system for monitoring and detecting obstacles in the vicinity of level crossings was awarded second place in the competition, which recognizes the most promising innovations with a TRL>6 by railway technology companies belonging to the organization.

The innovation, which is currently being installed on the RFI Italian railway network, was judged as showing a competitive advantage over the state of the art thanks to the strength and reliability of radar technology in extreme weather situations and a SIL4 safety level. DITECFER also appreciated that STARS is a collaboration and pooling of strengths between two local companies: the experience of Intecs in systems for railway safety and IDS’s experience in radar systems.

As one of the three winners, STARS will be entered into the ERCI Innovation Awards 2016. ERCI, the European Railway Clusters Initiative, represents 11 rail clusters across 9 EU countries and 1000 SMEs involved in railway technology.
